Submission: Amnesty International’s submission supporting the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Bill, 2022

Amnesty International South Africa welcome the opportunity to make this submission on the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences
and Related Matters) Amendment Bill (hereafter referred to as “the Bill”). Amnesty
International’s research has found that all forms of criminalisation of sex work results in
disproportionate harm to sex workers. We, therefore, support the Bill in its current form. It
will positively impact the lives of sex workers and contribute to South Africa’s national and
international human rights obligations.
