South Africa: Submission to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: 64th session, 24 September – 12 October 2018

In this briefing, Amnesty International provides information based on the organization’s research findings relating to South Africa’s implementation of the Covenant. It focuses on two areas: the right to adequate housing and the right to health in relation to Articles 11 and 12 of the Covenant. This submission also acknowledges the progress that has been made in improving access to social, economic and cultural rights in South Africa since 1994. However, persistent inequalities remain and this is not an exhaustive account of the organization’s concerns.
